Merry Christmas!

Here are a few pics from Christmas today and Kate's birthday celebration yesterday. Cole spent the day sleeping since he was up all night anticipating santa's arrival. But we couldn't be happier to have him home for Christmas and have family with us. Merry Christmas to everyone!

Happy 32nd Birthday, Kate!

Today is my sister Kate Leanne's 32nd birthday.  While we wish more than anything Kate was already here in Seattle to celebrate today, we're going to have to settle for celebrating this Saturday when she arrives from DC.    While this household has been spending the day changing diapers, making bottles, etc., Kate went out with friends to celebrate with an intense shuffleboard competition.  I can honestly say, I think both our days sound just about perfect : )

Happy Birthday, Kate!

Happy 2 Month Birthday!

We are in utter astonishment that our son is 2 months old today.  And actually, today is considered Cole's "birth" date according to the concept of corrected age.  Because Cole was born nine weeks early, he will have two ages - one, based off his true birth date of 10/21, and the second, based off his corrected birth date of 12/21.  Long story short, Cole's true age is 2 months, his corrected age is 1 day : )

Here are a couple photos of our not so Little Man : )

Great news from our pediatrician - Cole received his first A in life!  Dr. Fillipo officially gave Cole an A for his weight gain (weight as of Monday, 12/19 was 7 pounds, 15 ounces).

Almost as big as his giraffe!

Pretty sure that is Wilson on the shirt, not Steve.

"Triplets"

Cole's good friends Cade and Oliver came over for a play date last Friday.  Drew went out of town to Tacoma for a concert that night so my good friend Kristal came to the rescue and stayed the night to help out.  We figured we might as well make a girls' night out of it and invite Liz and Heather over for a big play date.  Here are a couple of shots of the boys.  And yes, they are all wearing matching outfits.  Our good friend Jinna bought them the same outfit and has sworn she will continue to dress them as triplets until they have the awareness to refuse her gifts : )  One thing we learned that night is Cole is the least cooperative baby for photo shoots - he is crying in all the photos and has a serious red face.  Maybe as he gets older he'll learn we're not trying to torture him when we do these things ; )

Big Brothers

Lots of people have been asking us how Steve and Wilson are handling Cole's homecoming.  We're happy to report it's going much better than we imagined it would!  Wilson doesn't seem like he could care any less - he has kept to his same routine of sleeping 90% of the day, eating a couple meals a day and going outside in the cold once (and only when we force him out).  Steve on the other hand has become Cole's protector.  He seems to always be within 2 feet of Cole (it used to be me he had to be around, sadly, it seems as though I have been replaced...).  He doesn't necessarily want much to do with him, just wants to be within ear shot for some reason.

Unfortunately, the amount of spare time we have to give them attention has become increasingly limited.  I swear they give me a look of disdain when I walk through the door now : (  Still, I love the boys more than I can say - they are the craziest, so ugly they're cute, kind of dogs and I wouldn't trade them for anything.  Here's them cuddling in their burrow bed...

Bath Time!

Lots of excitement over here this weekend with a quick trip to U Village for Cole's first shopping outing and a play date on Friday night with some of his new buddies.  Also, Nana (Cindy) showed up today for a few weeks of helping out.

I head back to work tomorrow, so that's going to be a tough adjustment for me, but we'll have some time over Christmas to go back to vacation mode.

Here are a few pictures from bath time tonight.  Always funny to see him and his faces in the tub.

What is this warm, wet, substance that I didn't create?

Get that cloth out of my face Mom!

Finally!  Its over!

Tummy Time

Well, Drew and I were right - Cole weighed in at 7 pounds, 5 ounces yesterday!  We just can't get over how quickly he is growing - he's going to outweigh Wilson here shortly ; )   [Not really, Wilson has reached his all-time record weight of 78 pounds!  But that's another story...]

At our appointment yesterday, our pediatrician recommended we begin working on getting Cole to learn the difference between night and day.  Pretty much we're just supposed to try and keep him awake for longer periods of time between feedings during the day and work on reducing stimuli during the evening.  One way we're working on keeping him awake, while simultaneously working on getting his neck stronger, is by giving Cole some tummy time during the day.  We're also taking advantage of many of the baby gifts we have received from friends - rattles, squeaky toys, etc. Here are a couple shots from today's "workout" and our desperate attempt to keep him awake : )

First Play Date

Today Cole had his first play date with his life-long friend, Cade.  In case you haven't been following our blog for the past 7+ weeks, Cade is our friends Liz & Tony's first born son.  Cade and Cole were born on the same day, 10/21 - Cade about a week late, Cole 9 weeks early.  While Liz and I went to our girlfriend Libby's baby shower, we left the boys home with our husbands.  So far the friendship is off to a great start - they pretty much just stared at each other for a while, enjoyed a bottle or two, and slept the rest of the time
: )  Here are a couple shots of them getting to know each other.

And, here's a picture of Cade with his dad, Tony:

Tomorrow is Cole's 2nd appointment with his pediatrician - we're looking forward to getting an updated weigh-in! Last Monday his weight was 6 pounds, 11 ounces.  Drew and I are both betting he's 7+ at tomorrow's appointment : )

Christmas Comes Early

Cole got me a new lens for the camera as an early Christmas present.  Apparently "he" thought my portraits of him weren't up to par, so he was very generous in getting one special for his personal shots.

Here are a few pictures from his first photo shoot.

The First 48 Hours

Well it's been 2 days at home and Cole is doing great.  He's enjoyed his choice of three beds to nap in (crib, bassinet, our bed), 24 hour food service, and new sets of regular clothes.  Quite the life.

It really has been incredible having him home though.  6 weeks of time at the hospital starts to wear on you, so this has been a much needed relief from that.  Cole also got to witness his first UW basketball loss last night, of which there are certain to be many more.

First bath at home!

Getting dry...

Cole has already developed some great belches.  I am pretty impressed.

Wilson doing what he does best, absolutely nothing

Thanks so much to Melissa, Jason, Jack & Maggie for Cole's sock toys!  He loves them and is clearly already favoring the crimson.

Welcome Home Cole!

We've been waiting for this day for 6 weeks, but the doctors gave their approval of Cole (and his parents).  He's had great progress since he entered this world and is proving to be doing just as well at home.  He's already had a few feedings and hasn't put up any fuss about his new surroundings.  We couldn't be happier to finally feel like a family here.

Here's a few photos from today.

A Great Day

Not only did Cole pass his car seat exam (angle tolerance test), but he passed it twice just for good measure! Looks like the drive to Suncadia should be a breeze for Little Man!

I also wanted to share a photo of Cole "helping" with his feeding today...  I'm obviousy biased but I don't think there's anything cuter than our son :-)
